Premier League Preview

The Premier League is back this weekend on Friday, August 16 at 8:00 pm. The opening game of the new season is Manchester United vs Fulham, a fantastic match to start the campaign. We have compiled a list of Premier League predictions and betting tips to help you with your soccer bets this season.

Every season begins with uncertainty as each team adds reinforcements to their side. We will look at the teams most likely to compete for the European qualification places and the squads battling to avoid relegation. Every Premier League season brings excitement, but who do we expect to kick off on the front foot this weekend?

Premier League Predictions

Prediction: Manchester City to win the Premier League in 2024-25

Our soccer prediction for this season is for Manchester City to win the Premier League for the fifth time in a row. Other teams in the division have closed the gap, but City has an undeniable pedigree over the rest of the field. Manager Pep Guardiola enters his final year as manager which could open the door for the chasing pack.

However, Arsenal is not a team to overlook. They finished as runners-up in the last campaign and have the depth and quality to mount another title charge. We predict they will fall short again as their summer recruitment has not been at the same level as the rest of the Premier League. They signed goalkeeper David Raya and Italian centre-back Riccardo Calafiori, arguably their two strongest and most re-enforced positions. They lack bite at the top of the field with a reliance on Grabiel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. We don’t think they have what it takes to secure a Premier League title without more attacking options.

Rounding out the top six positions, we predict Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester United, and Aston Villa will secure the European soccer places. Aston Villa has strengthened their side across the park with a thorough approach to the transfer window. They have signed eight players with more suspected arrivals on the way. However, competing on multiple fronts will take its toll on the side and they will miss out on Champions League football next season.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are two incredibly tough teams to predict. With Erik Ten Haag still in charge, there is no way of knowing how their season will unfold. Injuries are already affecting the side, with a reliance on veterans like Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans at the back. Some young players have made the move up to the first team, but they lack cover and consistency. We expect Man Utd to kick on, even with all the problems at the club.

Premier League Top 6

  1. Manchester City
  2. Liverpool
  3. Tottenham Hotspur
  4. Arsenal
  5. Manchester United
  6. Aston Villa

Ange Postecoglu has a massive season ahead. Spurs fans want silverware, but there is a big step up needed before they can claim it. They have bought well and have some incredible young talent waiting in the wings. They cut the dead weight with Eric Dier, Tanguy Ndombélé, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, and Ryan Sessegnon, but have they brought the right men in? Archie Gray is a fantastic young player, but over €40 million on an 18-year-old with no Premier League experience is madness. Lucas Bergvall also looks like a future superstar, but will he get the required minutes in this campaign?

Our soccer prediction for Aston Villa is sixth, Manchester United fifth, and Tottenham Hotspur third. That leaves Liverpool second, even though they are one of the quietest teams in the league this summer. Legendary manager Jurgen Klopp has taken a much-needed break from management, offering an incredible opportunity to Arne Slot. We don’t think he will start strongly but he will find his groove towards the middle of the season. Liverpool will finish the season second in the Prem by six points or fewer. Arsenal have the most to lose this season, as one bad campaign could trigger an exodus.

Looking at the backend of the field, there are a few frontrunners for relegation. Ipswich and Southampton are leading the charge for 20th position this season. Leicester sold one of their best players this window, Dewsbury-Hall, plus they lost the services of Ihenacho, Praet, and Albrighton. They have brought in some young talent from Portugal and Italy, but that is not enough to avoid going back down.

Besides the newly promoted sides, Fulham has lost a lot of important players. João Palhinha went to Bayern Munich, Ream departed for Charlotte, and De Cordova-Reid and Adarabioyo left for free. They signed Emile Smith Rowe to help cover the middle of the park, but they need more reinforcements urgently. Nottingham Forest, Everton, and Wolves are the other teams most likely to be in the relegation scrap. However, if you are betting on the Premier League this season, the three promoted sides are the safest option for relegation.

Premier League Betting Tips

With the new season fast approaching, it makes sense to lock in any soccer bets early for the best returns. If you are betting on a team to win the title, they will often have the best returns before they even kick a ball. Teams like Arsenal or Liverpool will only go down in value if they start the season strongly. Currently, City is 1/1 on our online sports betting site. If they get off to a poor start, those odds could increase, giving you better returns.

Besides betting on the Premier League winner, you can look at the top four finishes. Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all worth 2/1 at Novibet. Aston Villa is the only team at 3/1, probably because of their Champions League campaign. West Ham’s recruitment has been impressive, but a top-four finish seems like a stretch. However, you can secure odds worth 4/1 for a top-six finish this season.

Leicester is the most likely to go down looking at the relegation odds. With odds worth 2/5, a €10 bet will return €14 if they are relegated. Ipswich has odds worth 3/4 for the same market and Southampton is the only new addition to the league at plus money. Instead of just betting on a team to be relegated, you can secure much higher odds for choosing the team that comes last. Leicester is worth 9/5 to finish bottom, which will turn a ten-euro bet into €28. The same value bet on Ipswich at 5/2 will give you €35.

Betting the top goal scorer this season is a little bleak. Erling Haaland is the most likely and a €25 bet on the Norwegian would return €42.50. Instead, we back a wager on an outsider. Even Liverpool’s Egyptian King, Mo Salah, has odds worth 10/1. That would yield ten times the value of your bet. We like a bet on the Spurs’ new signing, Dominic Solanke, worth 25/1.

There are dozens of Premier League outright betting markets to enjoy at Novibet, but let’s examine the first round of fixtures. We have a complete list of weeks fixtures in the section below, but there are some profitable returns for an accumulator across the weekend. Betting on Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham to win secures you odds of 4/1 in an accumulator. You could add Crystal Palace or a draw between Chelsea and Man City to increase the returns.

This season, our sports betting platform is offering all players a €10 free bet. Make a Bet Builder wager worth €20 or more on any Premier League match on Saturday or Sunday to claim the promotion. A successful Bet Builder for the first game of the season could be Manchester United to win, under 3.5 goals, both teams to score, and Bruno Fernandes to score at any time. This wager has odds worth 22/1, making it a fantastic way to jumpstart your season! If you tune in to one of the games after kick-off, don’t panic. You can place live bets as the action unfolds, even if you want to build your own wager.

Premier League Fixtures 2024-25

Round one of Premier League Fixtures takes place from Friday, August 16th to Monday, August 19th. The first game sees Fulham travel to Manchester to face a stabilised United side. The last fixture of the opening week sees the newly promoted Leicester City host Tottenham Hotspur. Both games should be slam dunks for Spurs and Utd, but stranger things have happened in the first week of competitive play.

Below is a list of every fixture this week taking place in the Prem. Chelsea vs Manchester City is the biggest fixture of the opening weekend. Neither side will want to drop points this early in the campaign. However, a draw is not a disaster as we have a long way to go.

We will deliver soccer betting tips and predictions throughout the Premier League season. Make sure you visit Novibet to find out the latest news and transfers in this campaign.
