Gallagher Premiership Preview

The new Gallagher Premiership season is almost here with another thrilling rugby campaign ahead. It’s been a fascinating summer with big names leaving for France and several teams rebuilding. Most teams have opted to build from within without pursuing box-office names.

We’ve compiled a guide to the upcoming Gallagher Premiership season. Our rugby predictions and betting tips will help you with your wagers throughout this long campaign. Last season was a thrilling year with Northampton beating Bath in the Final. Will the Saints do the double or can Saracens bounce back in contention.

This has the makings of a very competitive campaign with several teams capable of winning the title. Check our predictions for who will top the table and the sides who will be circling the drain.

Gallagher Premiership Season Predictions 2024/25

Prediction: Northampton to win the Gallagher Premiership 2024/25

Northampton won their first title since 2014 when they defeated Bath in the Final last season. We predict that the Saints will do the double and defend their title. They enjoyed an outstanding season with the emergence of their young star Fin Smith. Courtney Lawes is a big loss after he went to CA Brive in the Pro D2. But they should have enough in the tank to consolidate and keep going.

Saracens are a fascinating prospect this year because nobody knows where they’re at. They’re joint-favourites with Northampton to win the Gallagher Premiership with our online bookmaker. However, they enter this season without three of their most influential players of the past decade. The loss of Owen Farrell and the Vunipola brothers leaves a gaping hole in their dressing room. We feel that they will improve from their fourth-place finish but it will still be a transitional year. That’s why we’re picking them to finish second.

Bath also had a great year and came close to claiming the title. They fought to the end despite going down to 14 men at Twickenham. However, they may have missed their best chance at claiming their first title since 1996. We predict that Northampton will win the Premiership with Saracens finishing second and Bath in third.

Northampton Gallagher Premiership Predictions 2024/24

Few teams spent big this summer despite the higher salary cap. Nonetheless, Northampton moved quickly to enhance their squad. They signed the giant lock Will Spencer. Meanwhile, they’ve added Luke Green from San Diego Legion, Fyn Brown from Doncaster Knights, and Archie Benson from Luctonians. It’s a step up for these men to play in the Premiership but Sam Vesty is one of the best coaches in the business.

The team will hope to get even more out of their most influential players. Fin Smith had an outstanding season in 2023/24 and has an eye on being an England starter. He’s adamant that’s his target for this year. Burger Odendaal is another player with plenty to prove. The South African is one of the best inside centres in the league.

Courtney Lawes is a massive loss because of the amount of experience he brought. It’s always challenging to replace a natural leader. The younger players must step up. However, they’ll feel confident because they’ve already won the Premiership. They’ll be contenders again this season for sure. We think they’ll beat Saracens in the Premiership Final.

Saracens Gallagher Premiership Predictions 2024/24

Saracens have had one of the most dramatic summers in their recent history. Owen Farrell is their top points scorer ever. It’s going to be a massive challenge to replace his consistency and professionalism. Mark McCall identified England-qualified Fergus Burke as the man to step into Farrell’s shoes.

They need the fly-half to settle quickly. If it works out, it could be enough for them to get back to winning ways. Burke had a superb record with Crusaders and is one of the most exciting new Premiership additions. If their new signings work out then Saracens are an ominous prospect for the rest of the league.

Maro Itoje is Saracens’ new captain. The England international is a good fit for the role. It may help him to elevate his game because he must lead by example. Saracens need leaders like Itoje and Ben Earl to deliver if they’re going to contend this year.

Bath Gallagher Premiership Predictions 2024/24

Bath is one of the most ambitious teams in the Gallagher Premiership. They came breathtakingly close to title victory but missed out on first place on the number of matches won. Then Northampton beat them in the final. But their director of rugby, Johann Van Graan remains determined to take them to the next level.

Their spending spree continued with some exciting summer signings. Guy Pepper joins from Newcastle and immediately strengthens their options in their back row. Ross Molony is one of the most experienced Irish players without a cap and joins the Black and White. Meanwhile, Austin Emens and Francois Van Wyk are two other big additions.

Don’t forget the talent that they already have. Many experts believe that Thomas du Toit is the player to watch this season. Local lad Orlando Bailey is establishing himself as one of the nation’s top young fly-halves and has England ambitions too. Our rugby prediction is that they’ll finish third.

Sale Sharks Gallagher Premiership Predictions 2024/24

Sale finished third last season and will do well to grab that spot again. Consistency was their biggest issue because they faded after a strong start. Then they surged back with round-robin victories before Bath defeated them in the semi-finals.

They’ve been there or thereabouts over the past couple of years with a crushing final loss against Saracens in 2023. Sale made some big additions including Le Roux Roets from South Africa’s Sharks. Veteran Toulon centre Waisea Nayacalevea adds grit to their ranks while they’ve brought back former captain Will Addison from Ulster.

However, we don’t think they’ll hit the lofty heights of last season. It would be an achievement for them to finish fourth this year because of the strong competition. But it wouldn’t be a shock if Exeter or Harlequins finished ahead of them.

Gallagher Rugby Championship Betting Tips 2024/25

The Gallagher Premiership officially starts on Friday, September 20. It’s time to lock in some rugby bets so we’re ready for the new campaign. Saracens and Northampton are joint-favourites to lift the trophy at the end of the season. Both sides are 13/5 in the Premiership odds to emerge victorious. A successful €10 stake would make €26.

We are picking Northampton to defend their title because of their continuity this year. They may have lost Courtney Lawes but he’s not the player he once was. Saracens have the unenviable task of replacing Owen Farrell and the Vunipola brothers.

The Newcastle Jets are the biggest outsiders to win the league at 1000/1. They’re in a disastrous state and most experts predict them to finish at the bottom of the table again. They lost every game last season and there’s a good chance this will happen again. Relegation to the Championship would probably suit them.

Meanwhile, there are some huge games in the Gallagher Premiership’s opening weekend, making for some exciting rugby betting opportunities. Bath will play Northampton in a rematch of last season’s Final. The Saints are 10/11 underdogs away from home. But there’s very little to separate these teams as Bath start at 4/5. We like a bet on Bath because vengeance is in their hearts.

There are many subplots throughout the Premiership this season. Leicester made a superstar signing this summer in former Australia and Leinster head coach Michael Cheika. They’ll hope to storm up the table. They’re 5/6 favourites against the Chiefs this week and we predict they’ll win. A €10 stake would make €8.33 if successful.

Remember that better rugby union odds are available if you bet on multiple teams in an accumulator. Betting on individual teams may be a better option in opening week. Coaches are still getting to grips with new players and not everybody will be fully match-fit.

Don’t forget to check out other markets. Midtable clashes can offer better odds because they’re less predictable. Consider betting on Sale to beat Harlequins at 10/11. These are two of the league’s most frustrating teams but it should be an entertaining game.
