Manchester City have won their last 13 games against Fulham and they look destined to make it 14 on Sunday.
Guardiola’s men moved a huge step closer to their fifth title in six years with a 4-1 win over Arsenal on Wednesday. Kevin De Bruyne was simply unstoppable coming from a deeper position and he scored twice and assisted John Stones as the Gunners were blown away.
Only Bayern Munich have stopped City scoring more than once in their last 11 games and Arsenal had Aaron Ramsdale to thank for keeping the score down at The Etihad last time out.
Guardiola’s side have clicked into gear at the right time and he has been blessed by having almost his entire squad available to him.
This game looks like a question of how many City can get at Craven Cottage. City won 4-1 at Southampton in their last away game and they won by the same scoreline at Bournemouth, with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in between.
They also showed in the win over Arsenal that they are prepared to go longer with the ball. Arsenal’s man-for-man approach pushed City into going quickly into Erling Haaland and Fulham may decide that this is the best way for them to stop a free-scoring City team.
Fulham have lost six of their last eight in all competitions. The midweek defeat at Aston Villa ended a two-match winning sequence and they may see the City game as a free hit.
However, they have not kept a clean sheet for nine games in all competitions and they have not done well against the big boys at Craven Cottage, losing to Arsenal, Newcastle, Man Utd and Tottenham.
Marco Silva’s men only lost 2-1 in the reverse fixture, but they face an unenviable task with City now in full swing. If they can keep the score down, that will be seen as a moral victory for the hosts.
