Curragh Racecourse Prediction & Betting Tips 10/09/2023:

BET HERE

On Sunday, the Irish Champions weekend moves to the Curragh for the closing day, with the Irish St Leger at 4:35 the culmination of a series of top class races on Sundays 8-race card. Our team has looked through the card and found 2 bets to round off the weekend.

3:25 Moyglare Stud Stakes (Group 1)

Ylang Ylang

This race has been won by some incredibly talented Fillies in the last 10 years, the likes of Rizeena (2013), Minding (2015), Love (2019) and Tahiyra (2022) have all won this race before going on to win at the highest level in their Classic years. If there is a Filly to follow that path in this year’s field, it is likely to be Aiden O’Brien’s Ylang Ylang. The winner of both her starts to date, she holds Verspertilio on their form from the Silver Flash stakes at Leopardstown in July and that looks to be the strongest form on offer. Porta Fortuna looks to be the main danger for forecast purposes following her win at Royal Ascot and a second placed finish in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes last month but if she looks more exposed than Ylang Ylang and may struggle to match the early speed of the likely favourite. Ryan Moore has made all the running with Ylang Ylang in both her races so far and another front running ride may well do the trick here as she is certainly bred to stay further than this and may well have most of her rivals in trouble at halfway.

She is the Antepost favourite for both the Fillies Mile next month and the 1,000 Guineas next May and will need to win this race if she is ultimately to realise those ambitions.

4:35 Comer Group International Irish St Leger Stakes (Group 1)

Emily Dickinson

All eyes will be on Kyprios when he makes his return from injury in the race he won so easily last year. If he matches the form that he showed last season, he will win this easily, but he has been off for some time, and he may well need this run to get to peak fitness. With doubts over Kyprios, there may be some better each-way value with his stablemate Emily Dickinson. She won the Curragh Cup over this course and distance in July and is best forgiven her 2nd placed finish behind Quickthorn at Goodwood. The winner stole that race with a brilliant front-running ride from Tom Marquand and Emily Dickinson fared best of those who tried to chase him home, finishing ahead of Coltrane as she stayed on strongly in the closing stages. She looks to be in peak form, and she gets weight from her main rivals, which makes her a fair each-way bet.
